Prof. Carmen Claver

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona (Spain) since 1991. PhD in 1978 from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in the field of organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis (Supervisor Prof. Luis Oro). Post doc in Toulouse, ENSC, Laboratoire Catalyse et Chimie Fine 1985, one year (Prof. Philippe Kalck) Visiting professor in University of North Caroline, Chapell Hill 1998 (Prof. Brookhart) 3 months. The research focuses on the development of new selective catalysts, from the synthesis of ligands and complexes to catalytic testing and characterization of intermediates. In the last years the interests have also included enantioselective catalyss, heterogenization of catalysts, processes in continuous flow and nanocatalysis. More recently catalysis for CO2 and biomass transformation. In total, 255 peer-reviewed contributions in major international journals with 5526 times cited (excluding self-citations) yielding an h-index of 43 (Web of Science, december 2014). The publications in the last 5 years are 34 (30 articles 2 reviews and 2 book chapters) publishing in specialized journals as well as interdisciplinary journals, as for instance Organometallics, Chem. Eur. J, Chem. Comm., Green Chem. or ChemSusChem, ChemCatChem. Three patents are in preparation in the fields of metal nanoparticles as catalysts and discovery of new catalysts for fine chemicals (TOTAL and IFF). Projects from 2009 include 2 EU projects, 4 other projects from administrations to reach a total of ca. 1,800,000 euros and 6 were financed by industries for a total amount of ca. 900,000 euros. Group leader of the OMICH consolidate group, her research team is distribute in two labs: URV and CTQC, (http://www.cclavergroup.org). Prof. Claver has been invited to deliver lectures in International meetings (about 60) as (last years) : CSC Conference-Congrès Calgary, Canada (2012) EUROPACAT (2013) ISHC (2010),ACS (2012) ACS (2013), Brazilian meeting on Inorganic Chemistry (2014), Green Solvents Conference (2014) and Catalysis meeting in Chile. Several scientific awards, being recognized in 2003 as Distinguished Researcher by the Catalan Government, Distinguished Professor, University «Rovira i Virgili“, (2004). Medal “Narcis Monturiol” for “her contribution to the development scientific and technologic in Catalonia” (2007) in 2009 as ‘‘Chaire Pierre de Fermat’’ in France. Correspondent member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Spain (2010)Member of the Academia Europea (2012). Member of the Scientific Council of the «Conseil National de la Recherche Scientifique» France 2009-present. Vice-rector of Research URV 1993-1997, Scientific Director of the “Technological Center for Chemistry of Catalonia” TECNIO, Tarragona from 2009.

Dr. Victorio Cadierno

Dr. Victorio Cadierno (Oviedo, 1969), studied chemistry at the University of Oviedo and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1996 working under the supervision of Prof. J. Gimeno. He then joined the group of Prof. J. P. Majoral at the LCC-CNRS (Toulouse, France) for a two-year postdoctoral stay. Thereafter, he returned to the University of Oviedo where he is currently Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry. In 2002 he was awarded with the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) Young Investigator Award. His current research interests cover chemistry of organometallic complexes and their catalytic applications. He is co-editor of one book and co-author of 15 book chapters. His scientific contributions include two patents and more than 150 publications (among them 34 Organometallics), which received more than 4500 citations. His current h-index is 40.

Dr. Pablo García-Álvarez

Dr. Pablo García-Álvarez (Universidad de Oviedo) received the Young Scientist Award. Pablo García-Álvarez was born in Fabero del Bierzo (León, Spain) in 1979. He gained his doctorate in 2006 at the University of Oviedo working with high-nuclearity ruthenium carbonyl clusters under the supervision of Javier A. Cabeza. After exploring some exciting mixed-metal chemistry of representative elements as an EU Marie Curie researcher at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), working with Robert E. Mulvey, he returned to the University of Oviedo in 2010 as a Juan de la Cierva researcher. In 2014 he gained a position as a Ramón y Cajal research fellow. He has authored more than 60 scientific publications (among them 17 Organometallics). His research is focused on new developments of the coordination chemistry of heavier carbene analogues for further catalytic applications.
